Natural Wood Products!We have many acres of timber that is just aching to have something made out of it! Curtain RodsTo satisfy this need to be creative, we here at Wells Family Farms tend to let our imagination run wild. We currently make Curtain Rods, which are made from a strait branch, it is held up by a larger branch cut into circles then in half as a u shaped holder. The diameter of the branch will vary depending on the type of curtain you plan to make as well as how wide the window or sliding door you are wanting to cover. The picture below is from our home showing you how they look with a hoop style curtain.
Cutting BoardsAnother fun thing we like to make are cutting boards. Anytime we take timber from our trees to the saw mill, (we just happen to have one within 2 miles of the farm!) I try to save slabs of different sizes to polish for cutting. Every once in awhile we have trees hit by lightening which gives the trunk some very bizarre shapes. When sliced these make great conversation pieces. A big success was a tree struck by lightening that created a heart shape board. They sold very quickly. We are always on the look out for fun shapes. Log items!Bunk Beds, Railing, Window Frames, the ideas are endless. In fact you are only limited by your imagination when it comes to working with wood. |
